Connecting Brands with the Communities They Serve…and Serving our Communities.

August Jackson is a community of individuals who belong to other larger communities around the country. We believe it is our responsibility as a company and as individuals to contribute to the communities in which we live and work, and we started The August Jackson Foundation to do just that.

The August Jackson Foundation is funded by a share of the profits of August Jackson and the generous contributions of the agency's employees (www.augustjackson.com). A rotating group of employee trustees selects causes that allow us to make the greatest impact. Each quarter, we close our offices for a full day to participate in Foundation activities in one of three areas: the Arts, Education and the Environment.

Reading is Fundamental
Reading Is Fundamental is a nonprofit literacy program that operates across the United States to provide underprivileged youth with books, literacy resources, and community involvement to encourage reading. On Dr. Seuss’s birthday, the August Jackson Foundation spent a day with Reading Is Fundamental at a Washington, DC public school, reading to children and helping them choose free books to keep.

Rock and Ride
Little Kids Rock is an organization that is changing music education for youth in America. By developing teaching methods that are built on children’s knowledge of popular music, training teachers to lead classes using these methods, and providing children with free musical instruments Little Kids Rock is able to expose more children to music. The August Jackson Foundation has partnered with Little Kids Rock since 2007, by participating in a sponsored bike ride and donating the funds to the organization.

Chicago Green Day
Chicago Green Day
City Farm in Chicago is the most recent initiative of The Resource Center, a nonprofit environmental education organization. City Farm was created on a vacant 1.5 acre lot with the goal of turning the unused land into an asset for the local community with farming, composting, job creation, education and providing local produce to restaurants and the public. The August Jackson Foundation supported City Farm by spending a day planting, watering, weeding, transplanting, and supporting the benefits of community farming.

DC Meadow
DC Meadow Planting Day
The Black Hill Visitors Center is a part of the Montgomery Parks System in Maryland. The Center promotes education on ecosystems and how we can help maintain the environment to support the survival of these habitats. The August Jackson Foundation participated in planting a meadow with milkweed and other nectar-rich plants to create a Monarch Waystation, a place that provides the environment necessary for monarch butterflies to produce successive generations and sustain their migration.

Painted Lion Society

Painted Lion Society
The Painted Lion Society is an organization of professional artists who collaborate with children and communities to create large-scale works of public art. The children involved are from the communities where the art will be installed, and range in age from 8 to 17, with a range of artistic ability. Together, the children and artists create a concept, design a mural and complete a finished work, which is displayed permanently in the community. The August Jackson Foundation sponsored a mural and worked with students of a San Francisco public school to create the finished product.
